The three-month residential course, developed with industry collaboration, will provide engineers and professionals hands-on exposure to reactor systems, safety practices, regulations, and emerging technologies.

IIT Hyderabad has launched a new training initiative focused on developing skilled professionals for India's growing nuclear energy sector, in collaboration with Crimson Energy Experts Pvt Ltd.
Announced on June 23, the Nuclear Technology Orientation Programme (NTOP) will begin on August 3 at the institute's campus.

The three-month residential program is designed to provide engineers and industry professionals with in-depth knowledge of nuclear power technologies, operations, and safety practices, according to an IIT Hyderabad release.
The initiative comes as India expands its nuclear power capacity as part of its broader clean energy goals, creating an increasing need for professionals with specialized expertise in the field.
NTOP aims to address the gap between academic learning and industry requirements by offering participants exposure to the technical, operational, regulatory, and safety aspects of nuclear power generation.
The program is targeted at early- and mid-career engineers, EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) professionals, engineering consultants, power sector personnel, managers, and executives from public sector undertakings involved in energy and infrastructure projects.
Its curriculum will combine theoretical foundations with industry-oriented learning. Topics include reactor physics, reactor engineering, radiation shielding, nuclear safety, waste management, thermal hydraulics, reactor instrumentation and control systems, quality assurance, emergency preparedness, and emerging technologies such as Small Modular Reactors (SMRs).
Training will be delivered by IIT Hyderabad faculty members along with scientists and engineers from organizations under the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), the release said.
Speaking on the launch, IIT Hyderabad Director Prof B S Murty said the program reflects the institute’s aim to contribute to capacity building by bringing together academic expertise and industry experience to develop a highly skilled workforce for strategic sectors.
Officials said the partnership with Crimson Energy Experts is part of a larger effort to establish a structured talent pipeline for the country's nuclear energy ambitions.
The program is expected to provide participants with both academic knowledge and practical insights relevant to roles across the nuclear power ecosystem, including design, construction, operations, safety compliance, and regulatory affairs.
IIT Hyderabad has not yet released information regarding program fees, eligibility criteria, application deadlines, or the selection process for the inaugural batch.
Prospective applicants can follow IIT Hyderabad's official website, http://www.iith.ac.in, and its social media channels for further updates.
