The 2025-26 postgraduate batch at IIT Gandhinagar faces a sudden first-semester fee increase of ₹17,062, prompting students to call the hike unexpected and financially burdensome after admissions were finalized.
Students of the 2025-26 academic batch at the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar have expressed concern over a sudden increase in first-semester fees, which they describe as “unfair.”
Those enrolled in regular postgraduate programs, including the MTech and MA courses, said the initial fee communicated during admissions in April 2025 was ₹69,338 for the first semester.
Following a Board of Governance meeting on June 21, the institute revised the fee to ₹86,400, resulting in an increase of ₹17,062.
Students have raised dissatisfaction over the hike, saying that the change came after admissions were finalized and imposed a financial burden on the incoming batch.
