IIT Bombay has introduced a one-year e-Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence (CS & AI), offering learners structured training in both core computer science and emerging AI technologies.
The program is being offered through IIT Bombay Educational Outreach and will be developed and taught by faculty members from the institute. EdTech company Great Learning will serve as the program's technology partner.

The course will combine live online instruction, self-paced modules and an in-person campus immersion at IIT Bombay. Although the program is structured for completion within one year, participants will have up to three years to fulfill all requirements.
To earn the diploma, students must complete six courses, including at least two each from the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning groups.
The AI and machine learning component will cover Generative AI, large language models, AI agents, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), reinforcement learning, computer vision, natural language processing and deep learning.
Computer science courses will focus on algorithms, blockchain, web and software security, cryptography, network security and big data systems.
The program is intended for software developers, engineers, IT professionals, data scientists and recent graduates who have a basic understanding of computer science.
Learners who successfully complete the program will receive IIT Bombay e-alumni status.
Prof Vinay J Ribeiro, faculty coordinator for the program at IIT Bombay's Department of Computer Science and Engineering, said the course is designed to give learners a strong foundation in both computer science and AI, rather than focusing only on the use of AI tools.
The program is intended to strengthen participants' understanding of the principles required to develop and deploy AI systems while building their expertise in core computer science concepts.
