The one-year executive program, starting July 2025, aims to equip professionals from government, NGOs, and industry with practical skills and insights for effective public policy and governance.
IIM Calcutta has introduced a new Executive Program in Public Policy and Management (EPPPM), set to begin in July 2025.
The year-long course is designed to build the capacity of professionals engaged in policy and governance roles by equipping them with essential knowledge and practical tools.
The institute highlighted that the program is aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of public policymaking, which plays a key role in tackling societal challenges through the pursuit of equity, inclusion, and justice.
“Public policy helps in addressing societal issues, which is done by achieving goals of equity, inclusion, and justice that largely depend on the effectiveness of public policymaking and the effectiveness of governance,” IIM Calcutta noted.
According to an official release, the EPPPM is tailored for "aspiring leaders and managers of public and private sector firms, advocacy groups, international and non-governmental organizations, and civil society associations."
The program seeks to familiarize participants with various policy-making techniques that can be applied to real-world governance and development contexts.
The program is designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of both theoretical frameworks and practical approaches to policymaking and policy analysis.
The course aims to equip candidates with insights into the most effective and innovative practices in public policy formulation and implementation.
Additionally, it seeks to deepen participants' understanding of key public policy issues and challenges affecting India and the global landscape.
A crucial component of the program is to familiarize attendees with various management tools and techniques and how they can be effectively applied to policymaking in the public sector.
This program is particularly suited for mid-career and senior-level professionals who have at least three years of work experience.
IIM Calcutta has tailored the course to attract professionals from a wide range of sectors, including state government officials, All India Civil Services personnel, embassy staff, faculty members of State Administrative Training Institutes, public sector employees, and representatives from multilateral organizations such as the UN, World Bank, and ADB.
The program is also aimed at professionals working with Indian and international NGOs, entrepreneurs, members of foundations and think tanks, consulting firms, and senior executives from various industries.
The duration of the program is 12 months, with classes conducted once a week. Sessions will be held every Saturday from 6:45 pm to 9:45 pm, offering flexibility for working professionals. The total program fee is ₹335,000 plus GST.
