IIM Bangalore placement committee resigns amid recruitment clause allegations

The placement committee at IIM Bangalore resigned on Dec 10 following allegations that a recruitment clause had been revoked in a manner that selectively benefited committee members, the institute said on Dec 12.

The 20-member committee submitted a collective resignation to the institute’s Career Development Services and students.

In the letter, they said, “As a result, support for all activities related to the Lateral and Final Placements Process 2026 from the Placement Committee stands suspended until further notice.”

Career Development Services are managed by 20 student representatives from postgraduate programs under faculty supervision.

IIM Bangalore said the issue is currently “under internal review” according to the institute’s process framework.

“Student well-being is paramount and central to the values that IIM Bangalore upholds,” the statement added, without providing further details.

The pre-placement process for lateral and final placements typically begins in December, with final placement interviews scheduled for February each year.
