"A 1995-batch IAS officer of the Karnataka cadre and former Additional Secretary, Ministry of Rural Development, he brings with him extensive administrative experience," the official announcement stated.

The appointment comes amid a series of administrative changes in the Education Ministry. Earlier, Naresh Pal Gangwar was appointed as Secretary of the Department of Higher Education, succeeding Vineet Joshi.

Joshi has been transferred as Secretary in the Department of Panchayati Raj, according to reports.

Meanwhile, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has initiated a restructuring process following concerns over examination irregularities.

The agency terminated the services of 47 officials as part of the overhaul, with some officials also facing possible legal and criminal action, according to sources.

The move follows allegations of paper leaks and other examination-related issues that brought scrutiny on the testing body. The restructuring measures are aimed at strengthening transparency, accountability, and security within the agency.
