Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said India’s rapid AI adoption is drawing global attention and positioned the technology as central to the country’s ambition of becoming a knowledge-driven power by 2047. He emphasized that emerging technologies will be critical to achieving the Viksit Bharat 2047 goal.

Pointing to changing innovation patterns among youth, Pradhan said students today are engaging with technology in new ways.

"AI in education and education in AI are deeply intertwined," he said, calling on young people to use AI to educate, embrace, empower, and create pathbreaking initiatives. He noted that sustained innovation would help India strengthen its standing in the international AI ecosystem.

Describing the summit as a key initiative envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Pradhan said the focus has shifted from conceptual policy discussions to execution and deployment at scale.

Minister of State Jayant Chaudhary said deliberations at the event brought together academic and industry leaders to examine structured AI adoption across early education, workforce training, research, and global competitiveness, aligned with long-term national development objectives.

Detailing groundwork already undertaken, the Ministry said, "Over the last decade, the Ministry of Education has progressively laid the foundations for AI-enabled education through national digital platforms, policy frameworks, institutional reforms, and large-scale capacity-building initiatives spanning school education, higher education, skilling, and advanced research and innovation ecosystems."

"Following last year's Budget announcement, the government set up a Center of Excellence in AI for Education at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras. The ministry conducted extensive consultations with academia, industry, civil society, and government bodies to chart a roadmap for AI integration,” it added.

“Recently, the Education Minister held discussions with AI startup founders in the education sector and chaired the two-day ‘Bharat Bodhan AI Conclave 2026,’ bringing together key stakeholders to advance responsible AI-driven transformation," it specifies.
