IIT Guwahati will conduct GATE 2026 on February 7, 8, 14, and 15. The application process opens August 25 and closes September 25 without late fees.
The Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati will conduct the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026. The institute has also launched the official website for the exam at gate2026.iitg.ac.in.
GATE 2026 is scheduled to be held on Feb 7, 8, 14, and 15. The application process will begin on Aug 25. Candidates can apply without late fees until Sept 25 and with late fees until Oct 6.
This edition of GATE will include 30 test papers. Candidates may choose to appear for one or two papers, but only from the list of approved combinations.
Only a single application form needs to be submitted, even if applying for two papers. All test papers will be in English and entirely objective in nature.
The question types will include multiple choice questions (MCQ), multiple select questions (MSQ), and numerical answer type (NAT) questions.
MCQs will have one correct answer out of four options. MSQs may have one or more correct answers. NAT questions will require candidates to enter a numerical value using a virtual keypad.
The exam is being organized by IISc and all IITs on behalf of the National Coordination Board (NCB), Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India.
A valid GATE score can be used for admission to master’s and direct doctoral programs in engineering, technology, architecture, science, commerce, arts, and humanities.
It is also accepted for doctoral programs in related fields at institutions supported by the Ministry of Education and other government bodies.
