CBSE denies portal crash after Class 12 students report re-evaluation login issues

Several CBSE Class 12 students reported technical difficulties while trying to access the board’s re-evaluation portal on May 19, triggering concerns over missed deadlines during the ongoing answer sheet verification and rechecking process.

Students posted complaints on social media platform X, claiming the portal became unresponsive soon after the application window opened.

Many alleged that pages were freezing repeatedly, while others said the login section was either not loading properly or preventing form submissions.

The issue surfaced as students rushed to apply for answer sheet verification and re-evaluation within the limited schedule announced by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

A number of students shared screenshots online showing incomplete pages and loading failures, with some expressing concern that they may not be able to complete applications before the deadline.

CBSE has opened the application process for Class 12 students from May 19 to May 22.

The complaints quickly gained attention online as students attempted to access the portal simultaneously after the board activated the re-evaluation window.

Despite the complaints, CBSE said there was no major technical issue affecting the system and maintained that the portal was operating normally.

CBSE Examination Controller Sanyam Bhardwaj said only a limited number of complaints had been received and suggested the issue may have been temporary.

"Sometimes, when candidates open the same page, an earlier saved page opens again. I asked them to restart the computer. After that, no phone calls have been received by me," he said.

Bhardwaj advised students facing temporary login problems to wait for some time and try accessing the portal again later.

He also rejected claims that the website had crashed, stating that the National Informatics Centre (NIC), which manages the portal infrastructure, had not flagged any technical concerns.

"I don’t think so because the NIC is taking care of our website, and everything is going well from their point of view also," he added.

The board further clarified that the CAPTCHA feature on the portal had been removed after some students complained that it was not visible while attempting to log in or submit applications.

The clarification came as students continued reporting intermittent access issues during peak usage hours.

The board has also introduced a revised and significantly lower fee structure this year for students applying for verification and re-evaluation services.

Under the updated system:

  • Answer sheet photocopy fee has been reduced to ₹100 from ₹700
  • Verification of marks now costs ₹100 instead of ₹500
  • Rechecking charges have been fixed at ₹25 per question

CBSE said students will be able to access rechecked answer sheets between May 26 and May 29.

The revised process was introduced after concerns were raised by students and parents regarding the On-Screen Marking evaluation system used during board assessments this year.

With thousands of students continuing to access the portal simultaneously, many candidates are expected to closely monitor the platform over the next few days to complete their applications before the deadline.
