The Uttar Pradesh government has leased 2.32 hectares in Chakauli village to EFLU, aiming to expand advanced language education through new academic programs and cultural exchange opportunities in the state capital.

Lucknow is set to host a permanent campus of the English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU), Hyderabad, following the Uttar Pradesh government’s decision to allocate land for the project.
The state has leased 2.32 hectares in Chakauli village, Pargana Bijnor, Sarojini Nagar tehsil, for ₹1 per year.

Officials said the move is intended to give students in Uttar Pradesh better access to advanced education in English and foreign languages.
EFLU currently runs its Lucknow operations from a rented complex on Kanpur Road. Once the permanent campus is ready, it will house a wide range of programs, from undergraduate to doctoral degrees, alongside part-time courses in languages such as French, German, Russian, and Spanish.
Planned full-time offerings include a BA (Honors) English, MA English, MA Linguistics, MA English Literature, a Postgraduate Diploma in the Teaching of English (PGDTE), and PhD programs.
University officials believe the facility will grow into a major hub for language studies, research, and cultural exchange, attracting students from across the country.
At the land handover event, Uttar Pradesh Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyay said, “The construction of the permanent campus will lead to unprecedented growth in the quality of education and facilities.”
EFLU Vice Chancellor Professor N Nagaraju called the land allotment a “historic step” and added, “The Lucknow Campus will be developed into an excellent center for linguistic education and research.”
