DU reaffirms CUET UG 2026 as only criteria for UG admissions

Delhi University has confirmed that admissions to all regular undergraduate programs for the 2026-27 academic session will be based solely on scores obtained in the Common University Entrance Test (CUET-UG) 2026.

The rule applies uniformly across all colleges and courses affiliated with the university. However, admissions to the School of Open Learning (SOL), Non-Collegiate Women’s Education Board (NCWEB), and for foreign students will follow a separate process.

The university clarified that candidates must appear in CUET UG subjects corresponding to those studied in Class 12. Applicants seeking admission to a program in a subject not taken at the qualifying level will not be considered.

While CUET allows flexibility for students to choose subjects beyond their school syllabus, Delhi University stated that only subjects studied in Class 12 will be accepted for eligibility under its admission policy.

Officials highlighted that while CUET provides a common framework, participating universities retain the right to define specific admission norms.

For Delhi University, its institutional rules and eligibility conditions will hold precedence over general CUET provisions.

According to the admission prospectus, students whose Class 12 subject is not listed in CUET UG must select the most closely related paper. For instance, applicants who studied Biochemistry at the school level should opt for Biology in CUET UG 2026.

To ensure consistency, the university will determine equivalence based on whether at least 50% of the syllabus overlaps between the school subject and the CUET paper. The final decision regarding equivalence will rest with Delhi University.

The university further confirmed that there will be no changes to the subject combinations specified in List A and List B, which continue from the previous admission cycle.

Candidates have been advised to thoroughly review these lists and consult the official prospectus and information bulletin available on the university’s admission website to understand eligibility, subject mapping, and detailed guidelines.
