The Directorate of Education launches monthly activities from July 2025 to March 2026, including essays, art, speeches, pledge drives, and cultural programs to promote water conservation and river preservation.
The Directorate of Education has launched a year-long campaign titled ‘Maa Yamuna Swachhta Abhiyan’ to raise awareness about the importance of keeping the River Yamuna clean.
Running from July 2025 to March 2026, the initiative targets government, government-aided, and private schools under the directorate’s jurisdiction, aiming to educate students on water conservation and river preservation.
The campaign will feature monthly activities, beginning with essay writing competitions on the significance of a clean Yamuna in July.
August will see drawing and painting contests, followed by speeches, debates, and skits focused on water pollution and conservation in September.
October will host pledge drives and awareness walks to further community engagement.
Additionally, schools will integrate cultural programs related to the Yamuna into their annual functions.
To strengthen the initiative, the campaign will collaborate with NSS units and Delhi Jal Board offices to conduct interactive sessions, motivational talks, and exhibitions for students.
The goal is to cultivate a deeper sense of environmental responsibility among young learners while supporting ongoing conservation efforts.
Separately, the Delhi government is organizing the 11th Humanity Olympiad along with the Spiritual Eloquence Oratory Contest and Spiritual Echoes Poetry Recitation Contest across all government schools in the city.
These events aim to nurture human values and moral development among students from classes 5 to 12.
The Humanity Olympiad is a multiple-choice examination encouraging students to reflect on core human values through structured questions and learning modules.
The Directorate of Education has directed all heads of government schools to appoint a teacher-coordinator, preferably a Post Graduate Teacher (PGT), to oversee student participation in these programs.
The final round and prize distribution ceremony will take place on Sept 7, coinciding with World Equanimity Day, at Satyug Darshan Vasundhara in Faridabad.
