The state government announced initiatives including free NEET and CUET coaching, ₹274 crore aid to DU colleges, 75 new schools, AI language labs, and laptops for meritorious students.
Marking the completion of its first 100 days in office, the Delhi government on June 3 unveiled a report detailing key educational reforms introduced during the period.
Education Minister Ashish Sood outlined a series of measures aimed at improving access, quality, and transparency across the education system, from school-level initiatives to higher education support.
As part of efforts to strengthen higher education, the minister announced that the government has disbursed the first installment of ₹274.34 crore as grant-in-aid to 12 colleges affiliated with Delhi University.
Additionally, ₹19 crore has been directly credited to the bank accounts of 1,300 students under the Delhi Higher Technical Education Support Scheme.
To support aspirants preparing for competitive exams, the government has launched free online coaching for NEET 2025 and CUET UG 2025.
Under the Madan Mohan Malviya Vidya Shakti Mission, 2,200 students will benefit from academic assistance, with 1,200 of them receiving coaching for JEE and other entrance exams.
The Cabinet has approved the establishment of 75 new CM Shri Schools, the minister said. In addition, 250 school libraries will be digitized and modernized.
The government also plans to install 100 AI-powered Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Language Labs aimed at promoting foreign language education. Another 100 general language labs are being set up in government schools.
Under the Mukhyamantri Digital Education Scheme, 1,200 laptops will be distributed to top-performing students in September, Sood added.
To improve transparency in private school fee structures, the government has proposed the Delhi School Education (Transparency in Fixation and Regulation of Fees) Bill, 2025.
A revision in school uniform prices has also been put forward.
Addressing the recent controversy over fee hikes at Delhi Public School, the minister criticized the previous administration.
"It's a long-pending issue. Spreading rumors and questioning our government—my question is, why couldn't AAP solve the issue of arbitrary fee hikes when they were in power?" he asked.
