The Delhi government allocated ₹40 crore for the 'Business Blasters' program for school students and ₹15 crore for 'Business Blasters Senior' at universities, promoting entrepreneurship and resilience.
The Business Blasters Senior program started by the Delhi government aims to encourage entrepreneurship among college and ITI students.
The success of the Business Blasters program at the school level is being built upon by this project.
Speaking at the opening, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi clarified that the program's goal is to turn students into job creators.
This program aims to enable students to create their own businesses, even though institutions like Ambedkar University, Netaji Subhas University of Technology, and Indian Institute of Information Technology-Delhi have excellent placement records.
In order to help student teams realize their business ideas, the program provides startup capital of ₹50,000.
Highlighting its importance, Atishi said, “This vision, which began in schools, will now help university students become future entrepreneurs and strengthen India’s position globally.”
The Delhi government allocated ₹40 crore for the 'Business Blasters' program, which supports student entrepreneurs from Classes 11–12; each student would receive ₹2000, as part of its March 2024–25 Budget presentation.
It also provided ₹15 crore for the 'Business Blasters Senior' program at government-funded universities in Delhi.
She emphasized that by fostering resilience and risk-taking skills, the program has altered students' perspectives on failure.
“These young entrepreneurs will contribute significantly to India’s economy,” she added.
Alumni from the school-level program participated in a panel discussion at the event, sharing their experiences growing little seed money into successful businesses.
The Delhi government aims to produce a generation of entrepreneurs and innovators prepared to propel India's business and technological advancements by expanding this program to universities.
