The new guidelines will apply to nursery, kindergarten, and Class 1 applicants across schools under the Directorate of Education, aiming to standardize admission processes and align entry age with academic structure.

The Directorate of Education in Delhi has introduced revised minimum age requirements for admission to entry level classes in schools under its jurisdiction starting this year.
The new rules will apply to students seeking admission to nursery, kindergarten, and Class 1 for the upcoming academic session.

According to the education department, the updated framework changes the age eligibility criteria that schools must follow while admitting children to foundational classes.
All institutions governed by the Directorate of Education have been directed to implement the revised guidelines during the admission process.
Officials said the revised norms are intended to bring uniformity to age eligibility for early schooling and ensure that admissions correspond with the academic structure followed in schools across the capital.
Under the updated guidelines, schools will assess applicants based on the newly specified minimum age requirements for nursery, kindergarten, and Class 1 at the time of admission.
The Directorate of Education said the change is part of its broader effort to streamline admission procedures and maintain consistency in age-related eligibility standards within the city’s school system.
With the revised criteria now in effect, schools will process admission applications according to the updated age norms while continuing to follow the department’s existing admission procedures.
