What does it represent?

Second vessel of Project 17A Nilgiri-class frigates.

A contemporary, stealth-enabled multi-role war vessel built for anti-surface, anti-air, and anti-submarine combat.

Created by:

Constructed by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL), Mumbai.

Created by the Warship Design Bureau of the Indian Navy.

Characteristics:

Displacement approximately 6,670 tonnes, length 149 meters, speed 28 knots.

Armaments: Long-Range Surface-to-Air Missiles (LRSAM), 8 BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles, Barak-8 systems, lightweight torpedoes, rocket launchers, 127 mm primary gun, AK-630 automatic guns.

Fitted with advanced radars, sonar (Humsa-NG), and the Shakti Electronic Warfare system.

Propulsion: Combined Diesel or Gas Turbine (CODOG).

Importance:

Segment of Eastern Naval Command (Sunrise Fleet).

Comparable displacement and dimensions to INS Udaygiri (~6,670 tonnes, 149 m).

Fitted with LRSAM, BrahMos missiles, Barak-8 system, torpedoes, rocket launchers, a 127 mm gun, and AK-630 guns.

Incorporated stealth architecture with minimized radar cross-section.

Propulsion: CODOG, range 5,500 NM at cruising speed.
