Final batch of AH-64E Apaches enhances Army Aviation combat and strike capability

The Indian Army has received the final batch of AH-64E Apache attack helicopters, completing the induction of the fleet for the 451 Army Aviation Squadron. With this delivery, the Army has fully operationalised one of its most advanced aerial combat platforms, marking a significant milestone in defence modernisation.
The AH-64E Apache is a state-of-the-art attack helicopter equipped with advanced sensors, precision-guided munitions, and all-weather, day-night operational capability. Its ability to conduct close air support, armed reconnaissance, and deep-strike missions significantly enhances the Army’s operational flexibility, particularly in high-intensity and complex battlefield environments.

From a defence perspective, the induction strengthens India’s conventional deterrence. The Apache’s integration with network-centric warfare systems allows for improved coordination with ground forces, enhancing situational awareness and rapid response during combat operations. Its mobility and firepower are especially valuable in border areas and difficult terrains, where swift deployment and precision strikes are critical.
The helicopters also boost reconnaissance and surveillance capabilities, enabling real-time intelligence gathering and target acquisition. This enhances the Army’s ability to undertake proactive and defensive operations while minimising risks to ground troops.
Overall, the completion of Apache induction reflects India’s continued focus on upgrading its military capabilities. By enhancing aerial combat strength and operational mobility, the Apache helicopters contribute to a more agile, technologically advanced, and combat-ready Indian Army.
