India’s Cheetah Population Rises to 53 at Kuno National Park

India’s cheetah population has increased to 53 individuals following the birth of a new litter at Kuno National Park. The development marks a significant milestone in the country’s ongoing efforts to restore the species in its natural habitat.

The initiative is part of the Cheetah Reintroduction Project launched to bring back cheetahs to India after the species became extinct in the country in the mid-20th century. Under the project, cheetahs have been relocated from African countries and introduced into carefully selected habitats.

Wildlife experts and forest officials have been closely monitoring the animals to ensure their survival, reproduction, and adaptation to the new environment. The birth of cubs indicates that the cheetahs are gradually adapting to the ecosystem.

The increase in population is considered an important achievement for biodiversity conservation in India. Conservationists believe that the project will help restore ecological balance and strengthen efforts toward protecting endangered wildlife species.
