Study highlights rich avian diversity and ecological importance of Western Ghats forests
Researchers have documented 192 bird species in Silent Valley National Park, highlighting the remarkable biodiversity of the region. The findings underline the ecological significance of the park as an important habitat for a wide variety of bird species.
The survey recorded several endemic and migratory birds, reflecting the diverse ecological conditions of the area. Silent Valley’s dense tropical forests and undisturbed environment provide ideal breeding and feeding grounds for numerous avian species.

The park forms part of the Western Ghats, one of the world’s most important biodiversity hotspots. The region supports a rich variety of flora and fauna and plays a crucial role in maintaining ecological balance.
Experts note that such studies reinforce the need for stronger conservation measures in India. Protecting biodiversity hotspots like Silent Valley is essential for preserving wildlife, supporting ecological research, and maintaining environmental sustainability.
