Exploring Advances in Oral Malignancy Management: Continuing Dental Education Programme Marks National Oral Medicine and Radiology Day at Dr. Z.A. Dental College, Aligarh Muslim University

In a bid to address the pressing issue of oral malignancies, the Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology/ Oral Pathology at Dr. Z.A. Dental College, Aligarh Muslim University, conducted a Continuing Dental Education (CDE) programme on "Recent Insights in Oral Malignancies: Diagnosis to Management." The event, held in collaboration with Jaypee Hospital, Noida, under the auspices of the Indian Academy of Oral Medicine And Radiology (IAOMR), commemorated the National Oral Medicine And Radiology Day. This year's theme, "Revolutionizing Smiles: Innovate, Illuminate, Radiate," underscored the transformative potential of advancements in dental care.
Organized by Prof. Pradhuman Verma, the event aimed to equip dental professionals with the latest knowledge and skills necessary to combat the rising incidence of oral cancers, particularly prevalent in Uttar Pradesh. Prof. Verma emphasized the pivotal role of CDE in fostering continuous learning and professional development.
The esteemed guest speakers, representing diverse specialties in oral healthcare, elucidated on various facets of oral malignancies. Dr. Md Asadullah emphasized the importance of a multidisciplinary approach in managing oral cancer patients and advocated for preventive measures against common risk factors such as tobacco and alcohol consumption.
Dr. Ashish Goel, an Onco-surgeon from JP Hospital, underscored the crucial role of dental surgeons in early detection and comprehensive management of oral cancer. Dr. Abhishek Gulia, a Radiation Oncologist, emphasized the significance of integrated dental evaluation in radiation therapy planning and post-treatment care.
Renowned Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, Dr. Rachit Matur, shed light on the pervasive influence of carcinogenic substances among the youth and proposed strategies to mitigate their impact. Mr. Rajeev Khanna, representing Gelnova Laboratatories India Pvt Ltd, elucidated on the therapeutic properties of Curcumin in combating oral carcinogenesis.
The programme witnessed active participation from over 185 faculty members, undergraduate, and postgraduate students from JN Medical College and ZADC. Prof. Dr. Anshul Agarwal, along with faculty members Dr. Kauser J Khwaja, Dr. Nasir Salathi, Dr. Masood Hasan Khan, and Dr. Shahla Khan, played pivotal roles in organizing the event, ensuring its success.
As a gesture of appreciation, prizes were awarded to winners of various competitive events held in the preceding month. Dr. Sidra Aslam and Dr. Juhi Gupta facilitated the smooth conduct of the programme and extended gratitude to all participants and contributors.
The CDE programme served as a platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration, reaffirming the commitment of dental professionals towards combating oral malignancies and promoting oral health awareness in the community.
