Haat on Wheels Initiative Overview:
What does it consist of?

A mobile shopping platform aimed at bringing genuine handloom items straight to city shoppers, introduced as a segment of a nationwide initiative to celebrate handloom tradition.
Department Involved: Department of Textiles
Executed in collaboration with the National Handloom Development Corporation (NHDC)
Goal:
To support indigenous handlooms, enhance market access for weavers, and introduce sustainable fashion into mainstream retail avenues.
Main Characteristics:
Presents 116 weaves from various regions of India.
Mobile vans move around Delhi NCR, stopping at markets, residential areas, and cultural venues.
Advocates the theme "My Handloom, My Pride; My Product, My Pride."
The direct-to-consumer approach links weavers with city purchasers.
Importance:
Improves the economic stability of weavers by eliminating intermediaries.
Promotes voice for local, self-sufficiency, and sustainable consumption.
Increases recognition of local fabrics and the safeguarding of culture.
