The Union Cabinet sanctioned the “Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana” for six yearsPM Dhan-Dhaanya Kisan Yojana It is the inaugural specialized initiative centered on agriculture and related sectors. It draws inspiration from the Aspirational Districts Programme of NITI Aayog. Overall expenditure: Rs 24,000 crore each year Resource pool: Integration of 36 current programs from 11 Central Ministries/Departments, in addition to state initiatives and involvement from the private sector. Coverage: 100 districts, including at least one from each state/UT. It will be recognized based on three main indicators: reduced productivity, low cropping intensity, and minimal credit disbursement. Intended recipients: 17 million farmers Duration of implementation: 6 years (beginning in 2025-26) Goals of the program: Boost farming output, foster crop variety, and support sustainable farming methods. Enhance post-harvest storage at panchayat and block tiers, Enhance irrigation facilities, Offer both long-term and short-term loans to agricultural producers. Execution of the plan To ensure efficient execution and oversight of the program, committees will be established at the district, state, and national levels. The District Dhan Dhanya Committee will complete the District Agriculture and Allied Activities Plan (DAAAP). Monitoring and Evaluation: Monthly progress will be assessed through a dashboard utilizing 117 Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). NITI Aayog will supervise and assess district plans. Every district includes a Central Nodal Officer for regular assessments.
