Candidates can apply for undergraduate and postgraduate law programs until Oct 31, with unchanged exam pattern, eligibility criteria, and admissions planned across 27 participating National Law Universities.

The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) has started the registration process for the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2027 on Aug 3, 2026, at 10 am IST.
Candidates applying for undergraduate and postgraduate law programs at participating National Law Universities can now submit their forms through the official portal.

The registration window will remain open until Oct 31, 2026. The CLAT 2027 examination is scheduled for Dec 6, 2026, from 2 pm to 4 pm.

The Consortium has stated that there will be no changes in the syllabus or examination structure for the upcoming admission cycle.
Candidates can complete the application process by creating an account with a valid mobile number and email ID, filling in personal and academic information, selecting preferred examination cities and NLU choices, uploading required documents, and paying the application fee online.
For undergraduate admissions, candidates must have passed Class 12 or an equivalent examination with at least 45% marks.
he minimum qualifying marks for SC and ST candidates is 40%. Students appearing for their qualifying examinations in Spring 2027 are also eligible to apply.
For postgraduate programs, applicants must hold an LL.B. degree or an equivalent qualification with a minimum of 50% marks. SC and ST candidates require at least 45% marks to be eligible.
The offline entrance examination will continue with comprehension-based multiple-choice questions.
The CLAT UG paper will include sections on English Language, Current Affairs including General Knowledge, Legal Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, and Quantitative Techniques.
The Consortium said the number of CLAT applicants has continued to rise over the years. CLAT 2026 recorded 92,344 registered candidates, while 78,914 candidates registered in 2025 and 71,243 in 2024.
Through CLAT 2027, admissions will be conducted across 27 participating National Law Universities. The undergraduate programs will offer around 3,952 to 4,100 seats, while postgraduate programs will have nearly 1,590 seats.
Female candidates account for 57% of the applicant pool, and undergraduate aspirants represent more than 80% of total registrations.
With the selection rate remaining below 6%, competition for law school admissions is expected to remain intense.
