CJP team denied entry to three Greater Noida government schools during ‘School Theek Karo’ campaign

A team from the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) was denied entry to three government schools in Greater Noida on Sep 22 while carrying out inspections as part of its ‘School Theek Karo’ campaign.

The team, led by CJP co-convener Saurav Das, visited government primary schools in Devla, Makoda and Jaitpur to assess basic facilities and the conditions in which students study.

According to reports, the group was stopped at the gates at all three locations. Police personnel were also present outside the Devla school.

The latest incident follows an earlier dispute between the group and education officials during its first school audit in Gautam Buddh Nagar.

CJP members said they were told that outsiders were not being allowed inside the schools. In a video shared by Das, teachers at one of the schools said they had been instructed by the district's Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA) not to permit outsiders on the premises.

Das said the team's purpose was to examine facilities such as classrooms, toilets and cleanliness. The group also raised concerns about road and sanitation conditions around the Devla school.

Gautam Buddh Nagar BSA Rahul Panwar, however, said there was no general restriction on outsiders entering government schools. He told that a group of around 20 to 25 people could disrupt classes and affect students' studies, which was why the CJP team was not allowed inside on this occasion.

Earlier Noida school audit also led to dispute

The latest visit came days after CJP members inspected a government primary school in Garhi Chaukhandi in Noida.

During that visit, the team reported problems including dirty toilets, broken gates and an ageing school building. The group also alleged that it was subsequently denied access to other government schools in the area.

Education officials rejected the claim that government schools had been ordered to close or prevent the CJP team from entering.

BSA Rahul Panwar said schools in Gautam Buddh Nagar were functioning according to the scheduled timetable and that no closure order had been issued.

Officials said concerns about large groups entering school premises and potentially disturbing students were behind the access issue.

What is the School Theek Karo campaign?

The ‘School Theek Karo’ campaign was launched by CJP on Aug 15 as an initiative to inspect government schools and document their infrastructure and facilities.

The campaign has involved visits to government schools in different states. Its Noida leg has drawn attention after disagreements between the group and local education authorities over access to school premises.

The latest Greater Noida episode therefore centres on access to the schools, with CJP questioning why its team was stopped and the district education administration citing the size of the visiting group and the possible disruption to classes.
