Starting from the 2025–26 academic year, CBSE-affiliated schools will include daily affirmations in morning assemblies to enhance emotional resilience, self-image, and overall mental health among students across India.
From the 2025–26 academic year onwards, all CBSE-affiliated schools will be required to incorporate daily positive affirmations into their morning assemblies as part of a new initiative to support students' mental health and socio-emotional growth.
The move aligns with the Central Board of Secondary Education’s broader commitment to holistic education, which emphasizes not just academic learning but also emotional and social development.
According to the board, practicing positive affirmations regularly can help students develop a healthy self-image, emotional resilience, and a mindset oriented toward personal growth.
“Regular practice of affirmations has been shown to improve focus, confidence, and mental well-being. Our aim is to help students begin their day with clarity and calmness,” the board noted in its advisory.
Schools have been advised to introduce one or two affirmations each morning, using simple, age-appropriate phrases that emphasize respect, health, and self-regulation.
Institutions are also encouraged to adapt the affirmations to reflect their values and school culture.
Some of the sample affirmations shared by CBSE include simple, positive statements designed to encourage emotional balance and responsible behavior among students.
These are “I am always happy,” “I am calm and stable in every situation,” “I respect everyone. I respect nature,” and “I use gadgets only for studying.”
To ensure inclusivity, each affirmation will be delivered in both English and Hindi.
The board also recommends involving students in the process, allowing them to contribute or lead the affirmations.
Schools have the flexibility to tailor the implementation to their daily assembly format and are encouraged to explore creative approaches.
This effort is expected to cultivate a more positive and respectful school environment while helping students develop emotional strength and resilience from an early age.
