The Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Monday made an announcement that he is planning to start an incubation centre at IIM Sambalpur. He made this announcement during an event of plantation drive and campus tour at the institute where he was the chief guest.
Pradhan highlighted the significance of Sambalpur as the cultural hub of the state and envisioned the crucial role of IIM Sambalpur in transforming the region into an intellectual hub.
He further mentioned that prestigious establishments and institutions like Hirakud Dam, VSSUT Engineering University, VIMSAR Medical College, Sambalpur University, and Gangadhar Meher University in the vicinity would enhance the area’s educational landscape with the establishment of IIM Sambalpur.
Pradhan suggested that IIM Sambalpur should fervently participate in the capacity building of farmers in the rural-based economy and skill development of weavers.
PLANTATION DRIVE AND CAMPUS TOUR
The day commenced with a plantation drive that was led by Minister Pradhan and Professor Mahadeo Jaiswal, Director of IIM Sambalpur. This initiative saw participation from over 500 students from IIM Sambalpur and nearby schools.
Following the drive, Pradhan toured the campus, engaging with faculty members and students to gain a better understanding of the institute’s infrastructure, academic facilities, and research centres. Professor Jaiswal expressed his appreciation to the Union Education Minister for inspiring the students with his encouraging words.
He highlighted that Pradhan was impressed with the modern classrooms introduced by IIM Sambalpur, which offer real-time information on subjects to remotely located students while the professor is writing on the board.
