He succeeds CA Charanjot Singh Nanda and brings decades of experience in accounting, auditing, taxation, and corporate governance, while Vice-President CA Mangesh Kinare focuses on talent development and industry engagement.

CA Prasanna Kumar D takes charge as ICAI president

CA Prasanna Kumar D has taken charge as the 74th President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), with CA Mangesh Pandurang Kinare assuming the role of Vice-President for the 2026–27 term, effective Feb 12, 2026, the institute said after a meeting of its 26th Council.

Prasanna Kumar D succeeds CA Charanjot Singh Nanda and brings decades of experience to the role. A Chartered Accountant since 1984 and a Fellow Member of ICAI, he has held leadership positions at branch, regional, and central levels.

He chaired the Visakhapatnam Branch in 2001–02, served on the Southern India Regional Council from 2007 to 2016, including as its chairman in 2013–14, and completed two consecutive terms on the Central Council. He continues as a member of the 26th Council.

He has also chaired several ICAI committees and represented the institute on panels and advisory bodies formed by regulators and government departments, including IRDAI, SEBI, the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, and the Ministry of Finance. In 2025–26, he served as ICAI vice-president.

CA Mangesh Pandurang Kinare, elected Vice-President, is serving his third term as a Central Council Member.

He has chaired the Professional Development Committee, the Committee on Public and Government Financial Management, and served as vice-chairman of the Centre of Excellence Directorate. He has also been part of the Disciplinary Committee Bench for six years.

A Fellow Member of ICAI and a University of Mumbai graduate, Kinare has over 30 years of experience in accounting, auditing, taxation, and corporate governance.

He previously chaired the Western India Regional Council in 2013–14 and has been nominated to national and international bodies, including committees constituted by the Government of Maharashtra.
