BPSC postpones TRE 4.0 application process for over 32,300 Bihar teacher posts

The BPSC has put the online registration for its Teacher Recruitment Examination 4.0 on hold, delaying the process for candidates seeking teaching positions in Bihar’s government schools.

The application process was due to begin on Sept 1, but the Bihar Public Service Commission cited “administrative reasons” for the postponement. The commission is expected to issue a fresh schedule for registration and application submission soon.

The recruitment exercise was announced under Advertisement No. 14/2026 and initially covers 32,388 teaching positions for Classes 1 to 12. The posts are divided across primary, middle school, secondary and senior secondary levels.

The vacancy breakup includes 3,847 posts for teachers of Classes 1 to 5, 8,563 for Classes 6 to 8, 3,877 for Classes 9 to 10 and 16,101 for Classes 11 to 12.

The delay comes as teacher aspirants continue to raise objections over various provisions of TRE 4.0, particularly the examination format and negative marking. Following discussions with protesting candidates, the Bihar government recently agreed to hold the recruitment examination in a single phase.

The number of vacancies has also reportedly been revised. Music teacher posts have been increased by 111, taking the reported total for TRE 4.0 to 33,385. The updated vacancy figures are expected to be forwarded to the BPSC for inclusion in the recruitment process.

Candidates should wait for the commission to announce the revised application schedule before attempting to register. The previously announced September 1 opening date is no longer applicable.

The BPSC is expected to provide further details on the revised timeline through its official recruitment notification.
