The proposed expansion is part of Telangana’s Global Knowledge Hub plan, with Harvard, Oxford, Cambridge, MIT and other international institutions also holding discussions with the state.

The University of London and Northeastern University, Boston, are planning to establish offshore campuses in Hyderabad, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy said.
Reddy said the proposed campuses are part of the state government’s plan to develop Hyderabad as a “Global Knowledge Hub” with a focus on education, skills and sports. The initiative is aimed at creating more global opportunities for young people in Telangana.

“University of London, UK, and Northeastern University, Boston, USA, are going to set up offshore campuses in Hyderabad,” Reddy said in a post on X.
He also said Harvard University and some of its schools were interested in offering selected programs and courses in Telangana.
According to Reddy, the state has held discussions with several leading UK institutions, including Oxford University, Cambridge University, SOAS University of London, Imperial College London, London Business School and the London School of Economics. He said the discussions had produced “positive outcomes."
The Chief Minister added that meetings with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and several leading universities in the United States had also received a positive response.
The proposed collaborations could include academic programs, certification courses, joint research initiatives, centers of excellence and specialized programs for working professionals, Reddy said.
“These pioneering efforts will make Hyderabad a global educational powerhouse,” Reddy said.
The plans come under the University Grants Commission (UGC)’s 2023 regulations governing foreign higher education institutions seeking to establish campuses in India.
Data presented by the Union Education Ministry in Parliament in August 2026 showed that 15 foreign institutions had received 16 Letters of Intent to establish campuses in India.
