BITS Pilani announces two new programs for 2026 to 2027 academic session

BITS Pilani has introduced two new academic programs for the 2026 to 2027 session, expanding its offerings in engineering, management, and pharmaceutical sciences.

The institute will roll out a five-year intercampus BE MBA dual degree program in collaboration with the BITS School of Management in Mumbai, along with a new Bachelor of Engineering in Pharmaceutical Engineering.

The dual degree program follows a 3-plus-2 structure, where students will complete the first three years of their engineering degree at BITS Pilani campuses in Pilani, Goa, or Hyderabad, and then move to BITSoM Mumbai for a two-year full-time MBA. Both degrees will be awarded upon completion.

Admissions to the dual degree program will be conducted through BITSAT in direct mode, with an additional vertical transfer option for existing BITS students.

Those securing a minimum CGPA of 7.0 at the end of their second year will be eligible to move to the MBA phase without appearing for CAT, GRE, or GMAT, while vertical transfer applicants will undergo an additional selection process.

The newly introduced BE in Pharmaceutical Engineering is designed to integrate core engineering principles with pharmaceutical sciences.

The program includes areas such as drug formulation, bioprocess engineering, regulatory science, and computational modeling, along with applications of artificial intelligence and machine learning in drug discovery and manufacturing.

Students enrolled in the pharmaceutical engineering program will also gain exposure to emerging technologies, including digital twins, augmented and virtual reality-based laboratories, Internet of Things systems, and healthcare data science.

The course includes opportunities for global internships, academic exchanges, and startup incubation support.

Prof V Ramgopal Rao, Group Vice Chancellor of BITS Pilani, said the programs are aligned with evolving industry demands and interdisciplinary learning.

"These new programs reflect our vision of integrating deep technical education with emerging fields and management excellence, ensuring that our graduates are prepared not just for today’s opportunities but for the innovations that will define tomorrow,” Rao said.
