Only 173 assistant professors and three associate professors were hired for the College of Nursing, with no regular faculty appointments made in 2020, 2023, 2024, or early 2025.
The top healthcare institution, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi, has revealed that about 35% of its professor positions remain unfilled.
The AIIMS-Delhi faculty cell's administrative officer responded to a query under the Right to Information (RTI) Act, revealing that out of the institute's authorized 1,235 faculty positions, 430 are vacant.
RTI activist M M Shuja submitted the application in January this year to obtain information regarding AIIMS Delhi's operations.
On March 18, the applicant received the information from the institute.
According to the data, only 110 applicants applied for the 172 assistant professor positions posted in 2019.
Of the 270 open positions advertised, only 173 assistant professors and three associate professors joined the College of Nursing in 2021 and 2022.
The report also indicates that no regular faculty positions were filled in 2020, 2023, 2024, or the first three months of the current year.
