US military assets in the Middle East are positioned for potential action, but President Donald Trump has not yet authorised strikes as indirect nuclear negotiations with Iran continue in Geneva.

The United States military is prepared to carry out strikes against Iran as early as this weekend, but President Donald Trump has not made a final decision, according to a report by CNN.
Citing sources familiar with internal discussions, CNN reported that the Pentagon has presented the White House with military options and confirmed readiness to act if ordered.

American air and naval assets have been repositioned in the Middle East, placing forces on heightened alert amid rising regional tensions.
The deliberations come as indirect nuclear negotiations between US and Iranian officials continue in Geneva. Diplomacy remains active, though officials indicated that key differences remain unresolved.
Senior national security officials have briefed Trump in recent days, outlining both the potential military timeline and the diplomatic track. While the military is said to be operationally ready, Trump is weighing the broader implications of escalation in an already volatile region.
The White House has not formally announced any decision. Officials have maintained that diplomacy is the preferred path but reiterated that “all options remain on the table.”
Iran, for its part, has continued to assert that its nuclear programme is for peaceful purposes, even as tensions with Washington intensify.
