Navarro emphasized that trade negotiations between the two countries are ongoing, and that he anticipates further discussions with Indian officials.

Navarro criticized India’s high tariffs on certain goods and expressed concern over India’s continued import of Russian oil, noting that such purchases indirectly support Russia amid ongoing geopolitical tensions.
His remarks come as the US has imposed tariffs of up to 50% on certain Indian imports, a move New Delhi described as “unfair, unjustified and unreasonable.”
Despite these tensions, both the US and India have indicated a willingness to engage in dialogue. President Donald Trump confirmed that trade discussions with India are continuing and that he expects to speak with Prime Minister Narendra Modi soon.
Analysts have interpreted these developments as early signs of a possible thaw in US–India trade relations, though no formal agreement has been announced.
