Iran has warned it will strike electrical plants across West Asia that supply power to US military bases if Washington attacks its energy infrastructure, further raising tensions in the ongoing conflict.

Iran has threatened to attack electrical plants across West Asia that supply power to US military bases, marking a sharp escalation in the ongoing conflict with the United States and its allies.
The warning was issued by Iran’s paramilitary Revolutionary Guard and broadcast on state television, as US President Donald Trump’s deadline for reopening the Strait of Hormuz approached.

Tehran said the move would be a direct response if the US follows through on its threat to strike Iranian power infrastructure. “If you hit electricity, we hit electricity,” Iranian officials indicated, signalling a tit-for-tat escalation targeting critical energy systems in the region.
The threat extends beyond US bases, with Iran indicating that power plants and energy infrastructure in countries hosting American forces could also be targeted. This raises concerns for Gulf nations, where electricity facilities are often linked with desalination plants that provide essential drinking water.
The escalation comes as the conflict enters its fourth week, with ongoing strikes between Iran, the US, and Israel intensifying instability across West Asia. The Strait of Hormuz, a critical global oil transit route, remains at the centre of the crisis, with disruptions already impacting global energy supplies.
The situation has heightened fears of a broader regional conflict with global economic repercussions.
The latest developments underline the deepening confrontation, with both sides signalling readiness to escalate further, raising concerns among global powers about the risk of a prolonged and wider war.
