Bill Gates drew similarities between the evolution of AI to that of personal computers. The computers were initially confined to businesses, but gradually made their way into households and became essential, he said.

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates said that artificial intelligence (AI) will be everywhere in our lives including at work and home and will work as a “utility helper” optimizing human time.
“You know, we will all have an agent that will be a utility helper to get things done… your agent will determine which parts of that are important enough for you to spend time understanding,” said Bill Gates in a recent podcast.

AI is already reshaping our world and job market with its immense potential which some see as a helpful tool but others fear that it could overtake millions of jobs.

He predicted that AI would follow the same trajectory and would handle daily tasks for us.
AI is not just likely to overtake office jobs, but also industries like the hospitality sector, building construction, or handling difficult tasks on job sites.
It holds the potential to not just be an assistant but become an individual force, replacing humans in many sectors.
The rise of autonomous robots is expected to reshape the job market, potentially displacing workers across various industries, including construction, hospitality, retail, and transportation.
While AI promises efficiency, those affected will still need to secure alternative employment.
A recent study found that 37% of businesses have already replaced employees with AI, with 44% planning AI-driven layoffs in 2025. This shift is only expected to accelerate.

Silicon Valley investor Vinod Khosla goes even further, predicting that within 25 years, AI could take over 80% of jobs—including roles in medicine, sales, and engineering.
His vision paints a near-dystopian future where human labor becomes a rarity rather than the norm.
Bill Gates has stated that only three industries will remain largely untouched by AI: energy, biology, and AI development itself. It leaves the fate of employers in less privileged industries hanging.
