After an incredible journey from a small town called Sangli in Maharashtra to Silicon Valley in the US, Aqsa Fulara is now a major player at Google, helping to scale artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) technologies. Fulara's career demonstrates her passion and enthusiasm for technology, which has transformed the digital realm.

She joined Google in 2017.

Fulara overcame stereotypes and attended Walchand College of Engineering in Sangli, despite growing up in a culture that discouraged women from pursuing higher education away from home.

After attending the University of Southern California (USC) to obtain a master's degree in engineering management, she went on to Stanford University to refine her technologically-savvy practical abilities.

"I was driven by a curiosity to solve complex problems," Fulara said, reflecting on her journey into artificial intelligence and machine learning. This passion drove her to create projects such as anticipating traffic congestion and improving congestion management tactics.

Fulara's impact within Google has been significant, particularly in expanding products such as Recommendations AI, which is now integrated into Google Vertex AI Search.

Her contributions include breakthrough solutions like Team Workspaces and Looker Studio Pro, which improve corporate intelligence capabilities by offering personalized recommendations and data insights.

"Google's culture of innovation has been pivotal," Fulara said, citing the company's encouragement for creativity through initiatives such as 20% projects and hackathons. The conditions enabled her to go into product management, utilizing AI knowledge to provide customer-centric solutions.

Uncertainty and technical complexity are two of the issues associated with managing AI product development. Fulara gets around issues by encouraging a culture of experimentation and adaptability and placing a strong emphasis on thorough testing and flexible approaches that lead to well-informed choices.

In the upcoming ten years, Fulara sees generative AI and tailored recommendations as revolutionary technologies that will change collaborative workflows and data accessibility in a variety of industries.
