Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday had ordered the probe following a letter from the State Commission for Women (SCW), which said that “influential politicians sought sexual favours” from women besides “raping some of them”.
Siddaramaiah also wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging the Central government to cancel the diplomatic passport of Prajwal Revanna, and take measures to ensure the return of the “absconding” MP by making use of diplomatic and police channels.
The MP is said to have left left the country as soon as the election in his constituency ended.
Prajwal is the grandson of former prime minister H D Deve Gowda and the son of former minister and JD(S) leader H D Revanna, who is also one of the accused in the case. He contested as the BJP-JD(S) candidate against Congress’s Shreyas M Patel from Hassan Lok Sabha constituency on April 26.
