Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 22, the opening day of the budget session, addressed members of all political parties and appealed to them to put aside ideological differences and engage in a productive discussion.

On the opening day of the budget session, he addressed the media and claimed that some parties' "negative politics" had squandered Parliament's time, depriving numerous Members of Parliament (MPs) of the chance to bring up matters from their constituencies.

The PM said that there was an attempt to "unconstitutionally silence" a government elected by the people, referring to the opposition's protests in Parliament immediately following the poll results.

The comments alluded to the opposition members' sloganeering during the PM's speech to the House during the debate on the Motion of Thanks to the President's Address.

"There cannot be a place in democratic traditions for attempts to gag the Prime Minister for two-and-a-half hours, and there is no remorse," he added.

According to PM Modi, everyone in the nation is keeping a careful eye on this meeting and hopes it will be fruitful, innovative, and provide the layout for them to realize their aspirations.

"This is a significant turning point in the illustrious history of Indian democracy. We are honored that a government has returned to power after 60 years and is presenting the first budget of its third term," he said.

“The Parliament is not for any specific ‘dal’ (party) but for ‘desh’ (the country),” Modi said.

Referring to the Union Budget, which will be unveiled on July 23, the PM said that the administration is proceeding with putting his promises into practice. "Amrit Kaal has an important budget this year. It will create the foundation for our Viksit Bharat 2047 vision as well as our five-year strategy," he said.

The Prime Minister added that India's rapid economic growth makes it a source of pride among major economies. "The nation has risen at an annual rate of 8% for the last three years. The outlook, investment, and performance of the nation are currently favorable. It's at the pinnacle of opportunities, in a sense, and this marks a significant turning point in India's development," he added.

"We fought with everything we had beginning in January. We told everyone what we had to say. Some tried to illustrate the way, while others attempted to mislead. However, that time is over now. The country has issued its mandate.

Urging MPs to put party differences aside and strive for the empowerment of the poor, farmers, and women, Modi said, “It is now the duty of all MPs to stop fighting for their parties and fight for the country for the next five years.”

"I am saying this with a heavy heart. After 2014, several MPs stayed for five or ten years, but many did not have the opportunity to discuss issues in their constituencies or enrich Parliament with their thoughts since bad politics by some parties squandered Parliament's time," he said.

"Differences in opinion are not a problem; negativity is. The country does not need negativity; it requires a progressive ideology. I hope we can use this temple for democracy in a positive way to help people achieve their ambitions," said PM Modi.
