After joining the BJP, Sudhakaran slammed present MP and Congress candidate for the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat, Rahul Gandhi, saying he was inaccessible to even the district leaders of the party.
In a major setback to Congress party ahead of the crucial Lok Sabha election, Wayanad District Congress Committee (DCC) General Secretary PM Sudhakaran left the party to join BJP.
After joining the BJP, Sudhakaran slammed present MP and Congress candidate for the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat, Rahul Gandhi, saying he was inaccessible to even the district leaders of the party.
Sudhakaran joined the BJP at an election committee office in Kalpetta.
"If he is inaccessible to me, imagine the situation of a common man. He was given five years. If we give another term, it will destroy the development prospects of Wayanad,” Sudhakaran said.
Addressing a function held at the committee office, the former Congress leader who had been with Congress for over four decades said, “I am joining the BJP as I am an admirer of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his policies towards development. The BJP is a party that has more relevance in today's society.”
He further said that the constituency would ‘perish’ if Rahul Gandhi stayed for another term and challenged him to announce that he won’t contest from Amethi. The Congress has not yet announced its candidate for Amethi.
Wayanad will go to polls on April 26 where Rahul Gandhi will be contesting against BJP's Surendran and CPI leader Annie Raja.
