NEW DELHI: Rupali Ganguly, renowned for her role in Anupama, officially joined the BJP at their headquarters in Delhi on Wednesday. In a press conference, the Sarabhai vs Sarabhai star expressed, “Observing this ‘Mahayagya’ of development, I feel compelled to contribute… I seek your blessings and support to ensure that my efforts are fruitful and positive.”
Vinod Tawde, the BJP’s national general secretary, extended a warm welcome to Ganguly as she joined the party. Seizing the opportunity, Tawde criticized the opposition parties over Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Maria Alam’s call for “vote jehad”. Alam, while campaigning for the INDIA bloc’s Farrukhabad Lok Sabha candidate, advocated for a “vote jehad,” asserting that the minority community needed to dethrone the BJP from power given the current circumstances.
“The Opposition, which has been propagating falsehoods, has now initiated a ‘vote jehad’ campaign. This clearly indicates their state of disarray,” Tawde commented. “On one hand, they are offering OBC reservation to Muslims, and on the other, they are promoting ‘vote jehad’ during elections,” he added. The 2024 Lok Sabha elections are scheduled to be held in seven phases. The first two phases were completed on April 19 and April 26.
