Jitan Sahani's body discovered with severe injuries in Bihar residence.
The father of Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) leader Mukesh Sahani has been found murdered at their ancestral home in Darbhanga, Bihar.
Jitan Sahani's lifeless body, showing signs of severe injuries, was discovered early this morning. Confirming the grim news, senior police officer Jagannath Reddy said that a three-member Special Investigation Team of investigators is currently at the crime scene, investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.
Mukesh Sahani, a prominent political figure and former minister in the Bihar government, leads the VIP party, which enjoys significant support from the Other Backward Class (OBC) community. The party is allied with the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the Congress within the INDIA Opposition bloc. Mukesh Sahani resides in close proximity to his father's house.
According to Officer Reddy, a Special Investigation Team comprising three members has been established to delve into the case. Preliminary theories suggest that the murder might have been the result of a burglary gone wrong or possibly due to personal enmity. However, the police are exploring all possible angles to uncover the truth.
The murder has drawn sharp criticism from the opposition RJD, with spokesperson Shakti Yadav condemning the incident and criticizing the Nitish Kumar-led state government for failing to maintain law and order. "The state is in a state of chaos, with daily reports of such heinous crimes. The current government is inept and has lost control," Yadav remarked, extending his condolences to Mukesh Sahani and his family.
Deputy Chief Minister and BJP leader Samrat Choudhary described the murder as "deeply unfortunate" and assured that the government would take stringent action against those responsible. "We will ensure that the culprits are apprehended and face the full force of the law. Our support and condolences are with Mukesh Sahani and his family during this difficult time," Choudhary stated.
Neeraj Kumar, representing the ruling JDU, also confirmed that senior police officials are actively working on the case. "No stone will be left unturned in our pursuit of justice. The perpetrators will be identified and brought to justice swiftly," he assured.
Union Minister and LJP (Ramvilas) leader Chirag Paswan also expressed his grief over the murder, calling for prompt action against the criminals. "We will ensure that those responsible are caught and punished. My heartfelt condolences go out to Mukesh Sahani and his family," Paswan said.
