Prime Minister Modi’s national address follows India’s successful Operation Sindoor, a ceasefire pact with Pakistan, and decisive countermeasures against terror infrastructure.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to deliver a national address at approximately 8 p.m. today, May 12, 2025, marking his first public statement since the commencement of Operation Sindoor, government officials confirmed.
This televised address comes in the wake of a significant diplomatic and military episode. On Saturday, India and Pakistan agreed to an immediate cessation of all hostilities across land, air, and sea. The ceasefire follows four intense days of retaliatory military operations that raised regional tensions and sparked global concern over a possible escalation.

The genesis of the operation was the Pahalgam terror attack, which resulted in the tragic loss of 26 Indian lives. In response, Indian forces initiated Operation Sindoor on the intervening night of May 6 and 7. As part of this high-precision mission, the Indian military struck nine terror camps located within Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), eliminating over 100 terrorists, according to official sources.
In retaliation, Pakistan attempted strikes on multiple Indian military installations between May 8 and 10. These efforts were met with robust counterattacks by Indian forces, targeting key Pakistani military facilities. The strategic response included operations against air bases and army positions in Rafiqui, Murid, Chaklala, Rahim Yar Khan, Sukkur, and Chunian. Additionally, Indian precision strikes inflicted severe damage on radar installations at Pasrur and the Sialkot aviation base.
Director General of Military Operations (DGMO), Lt. General Rajiv Ghai, confirmed that approximately 35 to 40 Pakistani military personnel were neutralized during these engagements. He emphasized, “New Delhi achieved its desired objectives.”
Lt. Gen. Ghai is also scheduled to engage in further communication with his Pakistani counterpart later this evening, marking their second direct military dialogue since May 10.
According to defense and diplomatic analysts, Prime Minister Modi's address is expected to outline the strategic framework behind India's actions, highlight the goals achieved under Operation Sindoor, and stress the importance of national security and regional stability moving forward.
If additional updates or diplomatic outcomes emerge, further communication from the Prime Minister’s Office or the Ministry of External Affairs is anticipated.
