The incident that took place in the wee hours of Monday has sent shockwaves through the institution.

19-year-old Yogiswarnath Mothukuru, who hailed from Mumbai, died after he jumped off the seventh floor of the C-Block men’s hostel around 6.30am on Monday.
He sent a distressing message to his family prior to the incident, prompting immediate action from campus authorities, reported Deccan Chronicle. Despite their swift response, the tragic outcome could not be averted. However, no suicide note has been recovered yet.
While the reason is unclear, the police learnt that the student had informed his family in Mumbai about his intentions prior to his death. Although Yogiswarnath was swiftly transported to Kozhikode Medical College Hospital, he was declared brought dead.
The Kunnamangalam police station have registered a case in connection with the incident. The cause of death can be ascertained only after the post-mortem examination, they said.
Following this tragedy, authorities have pledged to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Yogiswarnath's passing, with an autopsy to provide further insights.
The incident has yet again sparked debate about lack of counselling facilities for students to help them deal with academic and mental health challenges.
