A cash reward of Rs 20 lakh has been announced by the police for information leading to the capture of these four terrorists.
Following the recent escalation in terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir, with the latest one being on a security patrol party in Doda district on late June 12, the J&K police have released sketches of four terrorists involved in the attacks.
The recent attack marks the fourth terror attack in the region in three days. According to media reports, the gunfight erupted around 7:40 pm in the densely forested Kota Top area of Bhalesa village.
A massive search operation has been launched to track down and eliminate the terrorists but no fresh contact has been made with them so far, officials said.
On the night of June 11, five security personnel and a special police officer (SPO) were injured during firing in Doda district after the terrorists targeted a joint checkpost of the 4 Rashtriya Rifles at an army base in Chattargala and the police on the Bhadarwah-Pathankot road.
A cash reward of Rs 20 lakh has been announced by the police for information leading to the capture of these four terrorists.
The identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential, a police official said.
The recent surge in terror attacks comes after the June 9 attack that occurred on a bus carrying pilgrims in the Reasi district. The terrorists opened fire on a passenger bus causing it to plunge into a gorge and killing at least ten passengers while injuring 41 others.
The police released a sketch of a terrorist involved in the attack on June 11, with a Rs 20 lakh reward for information about him.
The attack on the bus was claimed by Lashkar-e-Taiba’s The Resistance Front, a terrorist organization which was founded in 2019 after the abrogation of Article 370 that granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir.
TRF has been involved in dozens of terror attacks and has been active in the south of the Pir Panjal region for two years. After the Reasi attack, the terrorists warned of more attacks.
