The advanced fire-and-forget technology used in the missile allows Army to lock the missile on to the targets before the launch and strike with extreme precision even in highly complex battle environments.
The indigenously-developed Nag Mk 2, the third-generation anti-tank fire-and-forget guided missile, precisely destroyed all the targets — maximum and minimum range — during the field evaluation trials held at the Pokhran Field Range recently.
The successful evaluation trials of Nag Mk 2, held in the presence of senior officers of the Indian Army, validated the firing range of the guided missile and came as a major advancement in the Indian Army's defense capabilities, defense officials said.
The advanced fire-and-forget technology used in the missile allows the Army to lock the missile onto the targets before the launch and strike with extreme precision even in highly complex battle environments.
Besides, the Nag Missile Carrier version-2 was also field-evaluated. With this, the entire weapon system is now ready for induction into the Indian Army.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated DRDO, the Indian Army, and industry for the successful field evaluation trials of the entire weapon system of Nag Mk 2.
Secretary, Department of Defence R&D and Chairman of DRDO Samir V. Kamat in a statement hailed the efforts of all the stakeholders for making the missile ready for induction into the Indian Army.
