India- Pakistan clash

In a decisive show of force, India has activated 14 battalions of the Territorial Army, signaling a shift to wartime readiness amid spiraling tensions with Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack that left 26 civilians dead.

The Defense Ministry’s Department of Military Affairs issued the nationwide activation order on May 9, deploying the auxiliary force until 2028 for what officials described as a posture of "heightened readiness and strategic reinforcement."

This unprecedented move comes as India repelled two waves of coordinated drone and missile attacks from Pakistan within the last 72 hours — interceptions that underscored the prowess of India’s integrated air defense systems. The enemy's fighter jets were also downed during these escalations, reaffirming India’s aerial superiority.

The Indian military responded swiftly with Operation Sindoor, a tri-services strike campaign targeting nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Over 100 terrorists were eliminated, and critical infrastructure believed to have been used in attacks like Pulwama (2019) was dismantled. This marks India’s most significant cross-border military operation since the 1971 Indo-Pak war.

“India has irrefutable evidence of Pakistan’s hand in the Pahalgam massacre,” Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri stated during a forceful press briefing on May 8, citing links between Pakistani intelligence and global terror networks, including those involved in the 2005 London bombings.

Pakistan has denied the accusations and called for an international probe, a demand dismissed by New Delhi as a deflection tactic. Indian officials maintain that Islamabad continues to harbor and support terrorist elements.

According to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), India maintains a considerable military edge — boasting 1.47 million active personnel and 1.6 million in paramilitary forces, compared to Pakistan’s combined total of less than 1 million. India also leads in air and ground warfare assets, including fighter aircraft, armored vehicles, and artillery systems.

As two nuclear-armed neighbors tread dangerously close to open conflict, India’s military calculus now appears to combine strategic restraint with potent, rapid-response capability — a message meant for both Islamabad and the global community.
