On World Day against Child Labour, UP Chief Minister urges citizens to protect every child’s right to education, dignity, and a future free of fear.

Marking the World Day against Child Labour, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on June 12 made an impassioned appeal to end what he termed a “curse on society,” urging every citizen to act decisively in protecting children from exploitation.
In a strong message shared on social media platform X, Adityanath said child labour remains one of the gravest injustices of our time and cannot be tolerated in a society striving for progress and compassion.

“Child labour is a curse, it cannot be accepted! Let us, on this World Day against Child Labour, pledge to connect every child with education, safety, dignity and values,” he posted.
Adityanath underscored the need for collective awareness and action, stating that only through united societal resolve can India build a future where every child grows up safe, empowered, and educated.

The World Day against child labour, observed every year on June 12, was initiated by the International Labour Organization (ILO) in 2002. The day aims to spotlight the harsh realities faced by millions of children forced into labour — many subjected to hazardous work, coercion, and systemic exploitation.
Globally, the fight to eliminate child labour continues amid rising concerns over post-pandemic economic distress and displacement, which experts warn may push more children into vulnerable situations.
Adityanath’s statement adds to growing national and international calls to prioritise child welfare and ensure that every child is given the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive — free from exploitation and fear.
