K Armstrong, the Tamil Nadu president of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), was fatally attacked on July 6 near his residence in Perambur, Chennai.
He was assaulted by a group of individuals on two-wheelers, resulting in severe injuries. Armstrong succumbed to his injuries while being transported to the hospital.

Mayawati, the BSP's national leader, called for strict punishment for those responsible for Armstrong's murder. "The government must punish the guilty," she stated on social media.
K Armstrong, a law graduate from Venkateswara University in Tirupati, practiced law in Chennai. He entered politics in 2006 as a corporation councillor and became the BSP's Tamil Nadu unit president the following year.
In the 2011 Tamil Nadu assembly election, he ran for the Kolathur constituency, gaining significant support. Throughout his career, he was a prominent advocate for Dalit rights and the underprivileged.

Passersby assisted the police in transporting him to Apollo Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The special teams, led by Tr. Asra Garg IPS, are actively searching for the culprits.
AIADMK leader Edappadi K Palaniswami condemned the ruling DMK party, questioning the state’s law and order situation. He expressed condolences to Armstrong's family and BSP members, criticizing the DMK regime for allowing such crimes to occur.
BJP spokesperson ANS Prasad also demanded the immediate arrest of those responsible, highlighting the deteriorating law and order situation in Tamil Nadu.
Prasad emphasized the need for swift action by the state government to ensure justice for Armstrong.
