Andhra Pradesh minister Nara Lokesh along with MPs from the ruling alliance met Prime Minister Narendra Modi after the passage of the Amaravati Bill in Parliament, thanking him for the Centre’s support in advancing the state’s capital project.
The meeting comes shortly after Parliament approved the legislation related to Amaravati, which is expected to give a renewed push to the development of the capital city.

Lokesh and the alliance MPs expressed appreciation for the Centre’s backing, stating that the move would accelerate infrastructure growth and administrative consolidation in Andhra Pradesh.
According to officials, discussions during the meeting focused on the roadmap for Amaravati’s development, including investments, infrastructure expansion, and coordination between the Centre and the state government.
The leaders emphasised the importance of timely execution of projects to ensure the capital’s planned growth.
Lokesh described the Bill’s approval as a significant step towards fulfilling the long-pending vision of Amaravati as a modern and well-planned capital.
He reiterated the state government’s commitment to developing the city as a hub of governance, economic activity, and public services.
The Amaravati project has remained a key political and developmental issue in Andhra Pradesh, with successive governments outlining different approaches to the state’s capital structure.
The latest development is expected to bring clarity and momentum to the project, which has seen delays and policy shifts in the past.
The meeting with the Prime Minister is being seen as a signal of closer coordination between the Centre and the state on major infrastructure initiatives, particularly those linked to Amaravati’s development.
