Nearly 10 lakh permanent government jobs have been created for India's youth over the last year or so, Modi said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Dec 23 that his government had created almost 10 lakh permanent government jobs for youth in the last one or one and a half years. He additionally issued more than 71,000 appointment letters to newly recruited employees.
"Through the Rozgar Mela, we are continuously working in this direction. For the past 10 years, there has been a campaign in various government ministries, departments, and institutions to provide government jobs. Even today, over 71,000 youth have been appointed,” Modi said while addressing the recruits at a Rozgar Mela via videoconferencing.
"In the last 1-1.5 years, almost 10 lakh youths have been given permanent government jobs by our government. This is a very big record in itself. In the tenure of any previous government, youths have not got permanent jobs in the Government of India in such a way in the mission board. But today, not only are lakhs of youths getting government jobs, but these jobs are being given with complete honesty and transparency," he added.
Extending his best wishes to the recently hired, he said, "I have had many professional discussions with the youth of India in Kuwait. After coming here, my first program is with the youth of the country. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all the youth and their families.”
The prime minister also emphasized how language used to be a significant obstacle for young people from tribal, rural, Dalit, and backward areas.
However, his government implemented the policy of conducting exams and teaching in one's mother tongue.
"Today, our government is offering youth the option to take recruitment exams in 13 different languages," said the PM.
Highlighting that a large number of recruits were women, he said, "Your success will inspire other women. Our effort is to make women self-reliant in every sector. The decision to provide 26 weeks of maternity leave has saved the careers of millions of daughters. Our government has worked to remove every barrier that prevented women from advancing."
"Today, most of the houses under the 'PM Awas Yojana' are registered in the names of women," he added.
The prime minister also honored former prime minister Charan Singh on his birth anniversary, acknowledging his commitment to rural development and the advancement of the country.
"Chaudhary Sahab used to say that India will progress only when the rural areas of India progress. Today, in the policies and decisions of our government, new opportunities for employment and self-employment are being created in rural India as well,” said Modi.
"Look at the policies of the past decade—Make in India, Atmanirbhar Bharat, Startup India, Standup India, Digital India—each of these programs was designed with the youth at the center. India has changed its policies in the space sector and boosted manufacturing in the defense sector, and the biggest beneficiaries of these changes are the youth," he added.
